Point Reyes Backpacking Trip

I worked as a field guide for the Rimrock Expeditionary Alternative Learning Middle School on their 8th Grade two week travel study trip. The kids spent one week in San Francisco and one week backpacking with me on Point Reyes National Seashore. What a trip! Besides working with a phenomenal staff and amazing group of students, the weather was perfect, the wildflowers were all in bloom and the tourists did not yet arrive! We took a school bus from Bend to Klamath Falls, Oregon where we hopped on an overnight Amtrak Train to San Fran. I learned an incredible amount about group work, trip planning, and the land in this very active region of the earth. We had tons of fun pretending to be wind-blown trees, making calzones on the beach, tide-pooling, hiking, bird-watching, and exploring the earth and ourselves.
